We are from Southern Louisiana where coffee is expected to be strong and flavorful. This coffee maker is everything the reviews said it is. This coffee maker does not disappoint. It makes HOT coffee FAST. The coffee is rich and flavorful. I've used Community brand coffee (Louisiana only I think) and World Market brand flavored coffee in it and they turn out fantastic. This coffee maker is all pros, no cons.
We've owned our Presto for about 4 years now and love it.so when my parents' old percolator croaked and mom wanted a replacement, we didn't hesitate.I went straight to amazon.com and happily made the purchase, which was promptly delivered to them.Our understanding is that both my parents are happily drinking great cups of hot coffee daily. So I decided to buy one and, based on the reviews, I decided to try the Presto. I drink a lot of it and I want it to be the best possible. I'm real picky about my coffee. Well, I haven't been disappointed.The strengths include great taste, compact design, all stainless steel construction, doesn't shut off after two hours so you can keep some hot all day and doesn't taste bad until it's been sitting five hours, quick brewing. After going through many automatic drip coffee makers (Gevalia, Mr. Coffee, Black & Decker, etc)., it occured to me that some of the best coffee I ever had was made in a percolator. The weakness is that it doesn't have a timer; I compensate for this by getting it all set the night before and plugging it in as soon as I wake up. I will probably buy a timer at Home Depot, so I don't consider this a major drawback.In summary, it's all about taste, and this coffee maker makes suberb tasting coffee.
There are a lot of grounds in the brew unless a paper filter is used, although the holes in the basket are very small. Having had two drip coffee makers break this year (one lasted 3 months, the other about 6), we decided to go back to a percolator. The aroma is great and the coffee stays hot. It's messier than the drip pots, but it is still working so I'm happy. Ground coffee that didn't taste right in the drip pot tastes pretty good perked.
This is a great percolator. It takes longer to perk than my older Farberware but I'm hoping it LASTS longer. It's nice and streamlined and easy to clean. I like it lots.
