It gets the water really hot which is the key to good coffee. I purchased the Presto coffeemaker after trying several very expensive drip machines. For about a quarter of the price, I found that the Presto coffeemaker makes coffee in about the same amount of time but the coffee tastes much better. Makes a great pot of java. Sleek and elegant design is a bonus. Coffee is rich, frothy and very hot. Very fast brewing at 1 cup per minute. Coffeemaker is well built and sturdy. After using my coffeemaker for a few months, I bought one for my mother for Mother's Day.
I returned the unit for credit, which Amazon handled very promptly. Presto 02811 12-Cup Stainless Steel CoffeemakerI've given up on automatic drip coffee makers because they simply do not make the coffee hot enough for me, nor is the coffee that good tasting.This Presto brand 12 cup percolator is a very nice looking appliance, however the quality leaves much to be desired. I ended up being the winning bidder on a vintage, Regal brand Poly Perk electric percolator on EBAY, made in the USA. Unfortunately, these are made in China, like everything else these days. They certainly know how to cut corners to save money and make a profit, but big deal.I found that the stem that holds the basket would not fit in place or stand up. - I feel this is a far superior product, even if it is used. The Regal makes great HOT coffee.
The Presto 12 cup coffee maker works fine. The only difficulty I had was removing the top of the coffee maker, it is a snug fit and requires effort to remove.Presto 02811 12-Cup Stainless Steel Coffeemaker
